The lunch break is considered by many as a sacred time during the long working day. It’s a time when no one can tell you what to do. A full hour (sometimes hour and a half when you’re lucky) to do with as you please.
But as much as this is true, most of us use this break for anything but an actual lunch. We squeeze in a spa appointment, a trip to the grocery, a little shopping, some even work right through it, hoping it would make a dent on their workloads. While this is a free country, and we’re all entitled to do with our freedom as we please, we think not having a good lunch is punishing yourself and that’s not nice!
We say it’s time to bring lunch back to the lunch break! And it shouldn’t be just any lunch, but a fun one! Here are 4 ways you can bring the fire back to your lunch hour!
Who says your lunch needs to stay indoors? Go and take your lunch buddies out for a nice picnic! All you’ll need is a big blanket, some sandwiches, cold drinks, and a great, al fresco location and you’re all set!
This can cover a wide range, it all depends on you and your friends! It can be from your favorite book (The Jane Austen Luncheon, anyone?), to re-enacting a scene from a movie (Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, hooray!) Come in costume, make the food exactly as it appears on paper or on screen and personify characters.
Now this one will take you out of your comfort zone a little bit. And by a little bit, we mean a whole lot. The challenge is for you to sit with stranger (or strangers, if you would be so inclined), and have lunch with them. And we don’t mean sit there and eat quietly to yourself; we mean have lunch with these people! Who knows who you’ll meet! Just keep your in case of emergency person on speed dial, you know, just to be on the safe side.
Who made the rule that we have to start with savory things anyway? Start with dessert, and then when you’re all done, end it all with dessert again! Sweet and salty’s big right now, right? And besides, what better way to punctuate a good meal that with a delicious bar of KIT KAT?
